Can't scan with HP Deskjet 1055 and Mac OS X 10.6.8

I have Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I own the HP Deskjet 1055 all in one.  The printer works fine but I can't scan.  When I try to it just says HP Utility quit unexpectedly.  When I go for support I found a product fix for the Mac OS X 10.7.  I tried downloading that but can't do anything with it since I don't have that operating system.  What's the fix for mine?  This is frustrating!  PLEASE HELP!

When clicking the full feature software link for the 1055 here it stated compatible with 10.6 so this should work out for you. Give it a shot and let us know if it helps.

Hi,

The version listed above indeed listed as 10.6 compatible by it's title, however I affraid it is not correct.

 

Download and install the following software which is the correct one for your OS:

Both of the previously mentioned links do not solve this problem. I have the exact same issue with my Mac 10.6.8, and these links simply send you to an HP installer which when prompted to select a device only gives you the option of choosing the model 'Deskjet 1050 J410 series', when my printer is a 'Deskjet 1055 J410 series'. The 1050 is not a combo printer and scanner, so when you use this driver it only recognizes the printer NOT the scanner.

Even when I search the Deskjet 1055 in the search field, it comes up empty.

I have tried reconnecting, rebooting, and everything inbetween.

 

Help much appreciated.
