The online system will not recognise my network folder name when I try and set up a Scan to Network Folder. The product is an Officejet 8600 and iMac running OSX 10.7 Lion.. Any ideas?

I have updated the firmware. The problem is that the EWS does not recognise the pathh of the folder. It ssems it is looking for a windows style folder location rather than a mac style. I have even copied the folder name from the iMac but the EWS will not accept it. What on earth am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Bill

Hi Bill,
Please make sure to use the IP address rathert han Bonjour hostname:
Locate the Mac IP address (you may find it by opening System Preferences > Network.
Check the IP Address within the Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection.
Than provide the printer the shared path by using
\\[MACIPADDRESS]\[SHAREDFOLDER]
(e.g. \\10.0.0.1\scan as example)
Additionally, make sure SMB sharing is enabled within the Sharing settings:
Enter System Preferences > Sharing.
Enter the File Sharing settings.
Click the Settings button.
Verify the Share files and folders using SMB (Windows) option is checked.
Last, verify the folder appear within the shared folder column and the user have write permissions assigned.
For any further issue, it may help if you can post the settings provided on your Mac and those you has set within the EWS page as well.,
Shlomi

I used the instructions above, but it still does not work for me. I have a M575 and I am trying to connect it to a Mac Server running 10.7. It asks for a windows domain when looking for a username/password. It gives me a generic error of: "The operation failed. Please verify your configuration and try again."
I have verified everything I can think of, but it is still not allowing me to connect.

Great solution! Thsnk you very much. I almost returned my OfficeJet Plus 8600 because I could not register a network folder for scanning. Your solution did the trick. I like this printer and I'm learning more about it everyday. Thanks for the help.

Shlomi, thank you so much! I've been trying to figure out the scan to network folder setup for a day and your post finally made it come together. Thanks again! I really appreciate it.
ps... i would've market it as a accepted solution, except it wasn't obvious how to do that.
