I tried to clean up the excess ink below the ink cartridges (lots of goopy stuff under the black side) and then cleaned up the ink from the sides of the area. When I replaced the cartridges, the printer now cannot find them. Says they aren't installed. I've replaced them; unplugged the printer; let it "rest" -- nothing helps. What do I need to do to get the printer to "see" the cartridges? Please help! I need to get stuff printed/copied!!!

I already did all that and it still gave me the error message. HP said, when I asked them, that there probably wasn't anything else to do -- just junk the printer! Makes you wonder about their quality control. Thanks anyway.
