Color LaserJet 2600n prints black over all other colors. Running Mac OS 10.6.6

Running 10.7.1 on a Macbook Pro 2.9Ghz 8GB Ram and 10.6.8 on a Mac Mini.

Connecting to printer using latest drivers from Apple using Bonjour.  The Macbook is wireless and the Mac Mini is hard wired.

The firmware on the printer is the latest of 20070716.

Again for me its any driver after the 2.5.2 package from Apple and with the firmware 20070716.   Having those latest drivers from 2.5.2 package and up and with that latest firmware seems to be the trigger.   Working with Apple about a year ago they couln't reproduce the issue until they updated the firmware on the printer.

I can't remember how i applied the firmware, I think it was with a mac but not sure.  I wonder if it went on correctly.

Well I am tired of waiting on HP for a fix.   I still want them to fix this problem, but in the mean time here is a package I made.

Install it at your own risk, but shouldn't break anything.

Just be sure to read the comments when installing!    

When setting up the printer you may see two drivers, don't pick the 1.3.0.261 driver.   Pick the plain "HP Color LaserJet 2600n" driver.

I wasn't sure what a good upload place was, if you have a better one let me know.

Cashxx what happened to the driver package you made? I checked all of the upload sites but they say it's been deleted by the user. I'm no wizard with pacifist but I'm trying to duplicate your efforts. If you could upload the package again somewhere I sure would appreciate it.

I was finding it the package wasn't working.....its a loss cause not knowing what the issue is.  I thought it was the driver but thinking its related to the driver and HP software installed into /Library/Printers/HP as well.

The package worked on my computer and my other Mac running 10.7 and I reformatted and was trying to get things working again and couldn't.

Last night I reverted back to 10.5.6 and installed the drivers from the HP website and the printer prints fine.  From 10.6 onward things don't work right.

So like I said earlier keep pesting HP for a fix please.

Well all......After waiting 2 years for a fix and spending 1-2 months with HP support the final word is ticket closed because of a driver is insufficient. 

Meaning HP doesn't have the talent to spend an hour to fix the driver for us Mac users.

Shame, I have s practically new Laser printer sitting in my home office that I paid $350 for and can't use or haven't been able to use for about 2 years now.  Still has about 40% of original toner in it and used to work great.  Can't use it because HP can't keep up the driver for it.  What a shame!

cashxx, I was able to extract the drivers from my original OS X 10.6.2 and install the correct driver into my cups folder. It worked great. That is until while moving my printer after cleaning the scanner mirrors it dropped off of the file cabinet I was using as a workbench. Toast.....I now own a HP 1525 Color LaserJet. Until I trashed my printer I was just going to use the older drivers, I know you were doing the same thing, what happened that it didn't work out for you. The way I saw it was I just had to avoid ever upgrading the printer drivers. BTW I did follow your link and write a letter to HP regarding the 2600n. I don't know if other printers had trouble with the most recent drivers, my new one doesn't, but I wonder how long we could expect HP to support a printer as old as the 2600n. Mine had to be every bit of 7 or 8 years old.
