D110 USB connected printer will not connect to MAC

I have given up on wireless, and I'm trying to connect to my MAC via a USB cable.  I deinstalled the printer, downloaded install software for the MAC OS X from the HP web site, ran the install, no luck.  I tried all the troubleshooting recommendations I could find.  The printer does print a status report, so there doesn't seem to be a printer hardware issue.  Does anyone have any recommendations?

Re: D110 USB connected printer will not connect to MAC

Sure.  First, make sure the printer is plugged directly into your Mac, not through a USB hub.  Next, if you are using 10.6 or 10.7, download this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907

Re: D110 USB connected printer will not connect to MAC

Thanks.  I downloaded the software, turned the printer off and on.  Sill doesn't print.  The print queue indicates that the doc is 100% complete then an error "unable to connect to printer."

Try resetting the printing systen:

*Be aware that resetting the printer system will remove any existing print queue and reset any customized driver settings.

Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences .
Select Print & Scan.
Right-click (or Ctrl + click) your product in the Printers list in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system .
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type your user Name and Password .
Click OK . The printing system resets.

Now click the Plus signm select the printer and try printing again.

If there is no change, please clarify your Mac OS version (Apple > About This Mac)

Re: D110 USB connected printer will not connect to MAC

Please verify the USB connection:

  1. Make sure the cable is no longre than 2-3m length
  2. Directly connect it to a free USB port of your Mac, make sure not to plug it into the Mac keyboard port and not to use any extention or USB hub which will reduce the USB power.

Now let's verify the communication between your Mac and the printer:

  1. Click the Apple icon, than click About This Mac.
  2. Click More Info.
  3. From the left pane, click USB under the Hardware ctegory.

Can you see the printer listed?

If not, the Mac cannot communicate with the printer, with no relation to the software - Try plugging the USB into another port, close and Re-Open the System Profiler and check if the device appears now.

If still not, try buying a new USB 2.0 cable and check for any change.

Please let me know of any change,

Shlomi

Re: D110 USB connected printer will not connect to MAC

Printer did not appear in System Profiler.  I changed the USB cable (3 ft).  Still doesn't appear in System Profiler.

Were you able to solve your problem?

OS 10.7.2

HP d110 connected through USB 2.0 (new cable), but mac unable to connect to printer.

I already uninstalled, reinstalled, changed the cable...

Any advice?

Thanks!

Re: D110 USB connected printer will not connect to MAC

Let's reset the printing system:

- Go to System Preferences > Print & Fax
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Re: D110 USB connected printer will not connect to MAC

Tried it but didn't work: my printer doesn't show up in the Default Tab.

What now?

Thanks for helping. I'm spending too many hours just trying to connect a simple USB printer.
