I have just purchased the Deskjet 2050 All-In-One J510 printer for my home use. I have a mac and when i try to install the driver it immediately gives a pop up which says "This installer is not compatible with the version of operating system on your computer. It is compatible only with 10.5 and above". I have a mac os 10.4.11
Is there anywhere i can download another driver or have i just wasted my money?
Any advice is welcome.

Unfortunately this printer does not support 10.4. It supports only 10.5 and 10.6

I'm guessing your printer didn't exist when the drivers were written for 10.4. However there may a Gutenprint driver (Open Source) that will work for you. Gutenprint v 5.1.3 or 5.2.3 look like the best chances. This will mean you will have to experiment a bit to see if you can find a Gutenprint driver that will work for you, and what features it may or may not support.
If you want to explore that route, this may be a good starting place. I take it upgrading to a higher version of OS X is not an option for you. Good luck. Anyone else have any other thoughts? - Randy

Many thanks for your suggestion. It seems that Gutenprint does not cater for HP printer - only Epson etc. I tried a few of them but to no avail.
Are you (or anyone else) aware of any other similar sites that might offer similar solutions but for the HP range?
All the best

I haven't spent time looking around the Gutenprint site, but I know that even Apple, in their Printer Driver articles, makes extensive reference to Gutenprint for a lot of HP printers. For System 10.5 see this article, and for System 10.6 see this article, for example. I'm very surprised to hear that you did not find anything in Gutenprint for HP.
If your're sure that no Gutrenprint driver for HP will help you I don't have any other ideas off the top of my head. Hopefully someone else may have more ideas.

when I put the CD rom of the printer in my Mac OS 10.4.11 when I click on the installer icon on my desktop: 'This installer is not compatible with the version of the operating system on your computer. It is compatible only with 10.5 and above. For more information, visit www.hp.com.' Which off course does not give me anymore information,
Please help me with the drivers that are compatible with my mac OS 10.4.11 and the newly bought printer Desk jet 2050A All in One Series.
Thank you very much
