Deskjet 9800 - Printing is coming out cockeyed. Do I need a new printer?

Every time I print from my macbook pro which I use Lion, (not sure if this has anything to do with it.....) but the printing is not straight on the paper.....it's crooked. I tried to clean the rollers, I have new ink,.....just wondering if this is ready for the garbage.  I have this printer since 2008.  Please let me know ASAP as I have a lot of printing to do.

 Thanks!

Re: Deskjet 9800 - Printing is coming out cockeyed. Do I need a new printer?

Here are a few ideas:

1. Take the stack of paper out of the printer.  If it is not a continuous stack of paper (in other words you have been adding paper to the stack over and over), replace it with a fresh stack of paper from a ream.

2. When re-inserting the paper make sure the side and end guides are snug.

3. Remove the rear door of the printer and use a flashlight to look for pieces of paper, labels or other foriegn bodies in there.  Securly replace the door.

I only use this printer for photographs with one paper at a time. What should i look for when i use a flash light. Does it pay to have fixed. Thanks again

Look for pieces of paper, pieces of labels, parts broken or other debris.

This printer is so old it is definately not worth fixing, a new printer would be cheaper.
