Digital Fax with Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless

I am running Mac OS X 10.6.1 with the newest version of HP drivers but I can't seem to figure out how to enable digital fax. The device itself says it must be setup from the computer.

I am reluctant to install the software from the CD as the HP drivers from Snow Leopard is supposed to be newer. 

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Faxing from the Mac is not yet fully enabled on some printers in Snow Leopard.  I am not sure about the 8500.

Try the latest drivers for HP from the Apple site here.  If that does not work, wait for 10.6.2 - it is coming out very soon.

Thanks PrintDoc, indeed I've been banging my head against the wall for a few days with faxing...

Since the upgrade to SL, digital faxing doesn't work with the OJ 8500 Pro..** and if you trust Apple's web site it should all be hunkydory... 

Let's make sure there's an update soon, because that's causing havoc for us at this stage...

** the driver used is the latest version provided by Apple, the extra SL software from HP doesn't help much in that sector.

I am having the same issue.  This is not solved, the digital fax does not work.  The driver version matches that found here and trying to fax gives a driver error.  If anyone has a different result, please chime in.  My issue is with the HP Officejet 6500 E709n Series - Fax driver

Just want to comment that I have the same problem, as well as an open question on whether from either the Mac or my PC it is possible to send a fax wirelessly when the 8500 is wirelessly connected to my router, which in turn is the direct link to my ISP and telephone service.  Seems like this ought to work, but perhaps there is a setting not yet adjusted.  Any input is welcome.

Upgraded to Lion. Now my issue is a received fax will neither print out nor save to a folder.
