Chaplain,
We are finishing up the documentation for which printers are supported with in OS drivers and which or not supported in Snow Leopard. Since the doc that lists the printers not supported in Mac OS X v 10.6 isn't live yet, I dug in and looked.
I am sorry to inform you that there will be no Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) support available for your HP product. Therefore your product will not work with Mac OS X 10.6.
A small set of HP Inkjet printers beyond 5 years old are not supported with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
If you are using the Mac OS X 10.6 operating system on your computer, please consider upgrading to a newer HP product that is supported on Mac OS X 10.6. The majority of HP peripherals on the market are supported with Mac OS X 10.6.
There may be conflicts created by installing older pre-Snow Leopard drivers in new Mac OS X 10.6.
Included in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard are 3rd party Gutenprint drivers that may provide basic print functionality. Gutenprint is a collection of of open source printer software, including PostScript Printer Description files (PPDs), that is part of Mac OS X. It was formerly known as Gimp-Print.
When Mac OS X sets up a printer, it tries to locate the printers PPD file. If it can’t find the PPD file, you can use the Gutenprint PPD file.
Please note that Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple but may still provide basic print functionality.
For more information about printers supported with Gutenprint drivers, please reference http://gutenprint.sourceforge.net/p_Supported_Prin

Hi
I also can't see a supported printer list for 10.6 on the Apple site yet.
STaylor are you able to tell me if the HP DeskJet 810c or 840c are supported? Currently working fine with 10.5, HP 3.3 drivers (Really old, but made to last.)
Do all print drivers need to be 64bit to run on 10.6?
Matt

Hello,
Unfortunately, the Deskjet 990 will not be supported in 10.6 with new HP drivers.
However, the printer will be supported with Gutenprint drivers included in SnowLeopard.

Just for the heck of it, I chose the HP Laserjet 1320 - Gutenprint v5.2.3.
It worked...sort of...able to print mail ok, text-only files ok, web pages...not so ok.
But at least I have a temporary work-around.
