Is it possible to duplex scan on an OfficJet 6500 wireless. I know I can duplex copy, why can't I duplex scan?
I'm running OS X 10.5.

Use Pdfsam (www.pdfsam.org), basic version is open source - free to use.
Merge pdf documents with pdfsam(or Split), it's free and open source.
Start Pdfsam - use the standard Plugin "Alternate mix" to merge the 2 scans (first select the odd pages-scanned PDF and second the even pages-scanned PDF). Select "Destination output file" and the "Run" to merge to one complete "duplex" scanned PDF.

For a duplex copy you can say a 2 page original from the adf to 2 sides of a paper, which is really just duplex printing. The scanner itself is not a duplex scanner, it will only scan one side of the page. You would have to manually scan each side of the page using the flatbed, or use a third party app to help automate the process.
The current printers available that CAN do a duplex scan would be the 8500a plus, and the 8500a premium.
