Yes, I am getting a full page of settings and a preview of the printed page.
I just tried to print again - a brand new spreadsheet I made up from scratch. It worked. I could print in draft mode and all the various paper options were available for me to choose.
BUT, then I opened a file/spreadsheet that I initially created on my old PC and have moved over to the Mac recently. It would not print on regular paper - it would only give me the HP Premium photo paper as an option.
So, would the solution be for me to copy all the old spreadsheets into new files on the Mac? That seems like a tedious task (I'm an operations manager and does $$ spreadsheets all day long, so I have lots I work with every day). But if that's a solution, then I guess I can do that.

How about just opening each one and hit the save button to re-save it. You could open a bunch at once....
Is there an Automator script that you could write for this? Are you familiar with Automator?

Hello,
Just a quick thought, ensure the paper size is set to Letter and not "Borderless". Also, in the Print & Fax change settings to reflect from this Printer not "Last used".
Thank you...

I don't know who you are, but I could love you forever Double -U-Dee! You solved my problem. All my files will print now with plain and inkjet paper as an option. Thank you so much! This is amazing.

I wanted to say thank you again for sticking with me and keep posting options for trying to solve my printing problem. My faith in HP has been restored (at least a little, but it was basically gone, so it's an improvement....). I have bookmarked this support forum and will return if I encounter other problems. Thanks again.

I'm glad your issue was resolved. Unfortunately, I still have the problem. I'm running MacOSX 10.6.3 and Microsoft Office 2008 for the Mac. I'm using an HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 via ethernet at work and the same type of printer via USB at home (since the home printer can't be accessed over ethernet, but that's a different problem). I have removed and reinstalled both Office and the Printer software. I used the "generic" install package referenced earlier in this forum.
I've tried creating a new Excel workbook and I can print to plain paper. But as soon as I save, close, reopen that new workbook, my only paper option is Photo. This is true on both the work and home printers. Of course, previously created spreadsheets only show Photo Paper as the option.
Any suggestions you can make would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

Hang in there Mommy414. Keep pushing for a solution. I get the same problem with my L7780 with my Mac. It is sporadic. HP says it is an Excel problem and that may be true, but it didn't happen until after I upgraded to Snow Leopard. It only happens with Excel and not with Word or Powerpoint - or any other application. And it happens in a new file and an old one at odd times. That should be enough information for someone at HP, Apple or Microsoft to start with.
It is a very annoying problem.
