F4580, Missing Software? Word not printing with F4580,

Hi guys,

I installed the software until I reached the point where I had to add the printer to my print&fax preferences so I can use it in network. I typed in the Ip address and then it says that the software may be missing.

When I tried to print something with the HP Utility it worked, but when I tried to use the printer with Word it failed.

The queue says there is an error.

Has anyone experienced that? Help would be appreciated.

What operating system?  Where did you get the software?

I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and the software was from the cd which came with the printer.

The software on the CD is for 10.5 and earlier only.  Uninstall it in this special way:

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish

Now, run a Software Update.

Next, remove and re-install the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax.

You do not need the software now since Snow Leopard has both print & scan drivers built-in. Scan from Preview or Image Capture apps. Scanning from the front panel of the printer does not yet work.

Thanks that helped a lot. Didn't see that the software was for maxOS 10.5 and lower =)
