Hello Community,
we installed a new HP OfficeJet 8500 Wireless last week - all was fine - printing and scanning from 2 Apple Mac (latest snow leopard) and Linux Computers.
Suddently 2 days ago there where communication errors, the device was visible via Bonjour, pingable, integrated webserver ok. but printing was not possible from the Macs (Linux was still fine) - the print queue said "Conecting to Printe" then faild with "Communication Error"
we tried everything to find the problem - factory settings, wired network, new drivers, latest firmware check ... everything ... not solution - funny enought it was still printing with a generic PCL driver from OSX, but no scanning, so no correct printing in OSX
eventually we found the hidden tech menu (press and hold * and # - then the passcode 1,2,3) - there where a reset menu, where they have a "semi-full reset", which we executed ... the printer was back to REAL factory defaults, after the initial setup routine the printer just work fine like at the first day ! *happy*
anyway we spent 10 hours to fix this ugly issue, i hope this information may help somebody else outthere
greetings from Austria
