HP Deskjet 3070A stuck on "sending data to printer" on MAC

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I have had my printer set up and working flawlessly, wirelessly and via usb on my MAC for around three or months. All of sudden it just stopped working. When trying to print wirelessly the job would just get stuck in the print queue, although I could print out a wireless report and it said all was fine with the connection etc.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer using only the usb connection (no wireless) and it still gets stuck. I have followed the entire list of truoubleshooting advice (reset usb, delete and re add printer, power reset etc, etc). Nothing is working. Please help :smileysad:

ETA: I am using OS X V10.7.4

Hey MazHeff,

Have you recently changed routers by chance?

This may have affected the connection.

Does your MAC see the printer in its list of printers available?

Re: HP Deskjet 3070A stuck on "sending data to printer" on MAC

Hi Daniel,
My Internet provider did do a hard reset of my wireless Internet router recently (I can't remember if I have printed anything since that was done). When I print out a connection report from the printer setting it says that the printer is connected successfully and the wireless strength is good.
If the router is causing the problem, shouldn't I be able to use it through USB? Even through USB alone the queue gets stuck.
Yes, my MAC does the printer in the list of available printers.

I found this article for you related to this issue on this printer:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=...

I would recommend using a search function for the term OS X 10.7 (space between OS and X) to quickly locate the section that pertains to your operating system.

There are several steps available to take and some may seem redundant but this will be the best route to figure out this problem so I do appreciate you working with me on this!

This issue usually results from a loss in communication and I'm thinking it is more hardware related but I hope this helps!

Re: HP Deskjet 3070A stuck on "sending data to printer" on MAC

I tried everything in that link....twice. It's still not working. My Mac sees the printer in my list of available printers. The wireless report says connection is good.
I thought it may have something to do with not using genuine HP ink, but it hasn't caused a problem before, and I am not getting any error messages at all.
It will still print when printing reports connection reports etc straight from the printer.
Thank you for your help.

Re: HP Deskjet 3070A stuck on "sending data to printer" on MAC

If you print a test report do you see good results on the page?

This should at least eliminate the ink being the problem. If it refuses to print the test page it may be the third party ink causing the issue.

Re: HP Deskjet 3070A stuck on "sending data to printer" on MAC

This may seem redundant but you I'd recommend trying this scrubber utility to completely remove HP:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=dj-355...

Once the software has been scrubbed then I would try a reinstallation once more. If this still does not work I would suggest contacting HP support for additional options.

The link for that scrub tool is for Windows. Is there a MAC version?

Editing to add:

I just printed successfully via HP eprint....so now I'm even more confused as to why I can't print from my MAC anymore, LOL.

Re: HP Deskjet 3070A stuck on "sending data to printer" on MAC

You may want to take a look at sauer1284's post in this thread regarding the mac version of a scrubber:
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-Printing-and-Scanning/No-Scan-Options/td-p/178938

It is a lengthy process but should ensure that there are no remnants of the software and that the MAC is completely cleaned before attempting a reinstall.
