I am using a Mac and office 2011. Unfortunately I am not able to use the duplex functionality. By changing the driver into a laser printer it works, should there not be a better way? Hp please update the driver...?

Hi Ermes,
I am currently downloading the driver to install and do some digging on this one. While I am doing that, try checking the following (with the D410 driver selected for the printer):
1. Open System Preferences
2. Open Print & Fax
3. Highligh the D410
4. Click Options & Supplies
5. Click the Driver Tab
6. Check for a listing for a Two-sided Printing Accessory.
- If it is there place a check mark next to it.
- If it already has one, un-check it. Reboot the Mac. Go back in and Re-Check it.
I will update this post with my findings, as well as screenshots for where the setting is within the driver.
Thanks!
----------------Update----------------
Good news - after installing, I checked the options & supplies and there was no listing for an accessory. This makes sense because it is built in, and not attached in the back like most prior products, and officejets.
Better news - I printed a duplex document successfully (wirelessly) to the printer in OS X 10.6. I included a screenshot below of something to look for - In 10.6, a new location for the Duplex option was included - a check box at the top of the screen, instead of the usual menu item in the drop-down.
This screenshot is of the Print Dialogue for the Preview Application.
Please try this, and let me know if this works for you or not.
Thanks!

Hubbs, were you able to print from Microsoft Word: Mac 2011 (Version 14.0)?
I recently got HP Envy 100 D410 "Special Edition" (Dark Brown wood design on top instead of silver dots). When I go to File > Print on Safari, the menu shows up like the one you posted and I can print both sides. But when I go to File > Print on Microsoft Word: Mac 2011 (Version 14.0), it doesn't show the "Two-Sided" box next to "Collated" box.

Hi L2_DJ,
Try clicking the drop-down (where it says preview in the screenshot above) and see if the option is in a menu instead of the checkbox. Sometimes it will have it's own menu (two sided printing, manual duplex, etc - varies by product) and other times it will be under another menu option such as paper handling, or finishing, etc.
If I get a chance today, I will take a closer look on one of the Mac's here and get the specifics, but take a look in the mean time and let me know if you are able to find anything.
Thanks!

Hi, I am using the HP Envy 100 D410 with a MacBook Air running OS X v10.5.8. I am unable to get the Duplex printing menus/checkboxes. I followed your directions.
Any idea what I might be doing incorrectly?
Thanks

Hi bidoogiri,
In 10.5.8, the duplexing option will not be a checkbox, but rather a menu item in the main drop-down of the print driver.
Similar to the screenshot above, the drop-down location is towards the bottom half of the driver screen, and generally defaults to the application-specific drop-down item (in the example, Preview). Click that drop-down and look for Two-Sided printing, or Duplex.
Also, ensure that you are selecting your product in the Format For: drop-down at the top - this is critical to ensure that you have all of the driver options specific to the D410.
If that doesn't work, try the following print workflow, I use this every time I print to eliminate driver settings as a possible issue:
File - Page Setup
Adjust these settings (Select your printer, select the paper size)
Click OK.
Then...
Click File - Print
Adjust the remaining driver settings (Paper type, quality, duplexing, etc.)
Click Print.
Please let me know if this doesn't resolve the issue.
Thanks!

Hello, I have the Snow leopard OS 10.6.8 and Microsoft Office 2011. The driver menu doesn't have a sub-menu or checkbox for the duplex printing, so I tryed with the Layout menu (as suggested here), but had a problem. The second page of the document I wanted to print from Word 2011 get printed upside down, why?
This on top of the fact that I have no option to insert a scanned image directly from a Word 2011 document, or scan wirelessly in any way for that matters.
Any help aprreciated
Francesca

Hi, I have a similar trouble. I have a hp envy 100 d410 and a Mac Air with Lion (10.7.2).
I have downloaded driver HP_Lion_Ink_SW_V12.13.19.dmg.
But, I cannot obtain the same condition discribed bellow.
The check box to activate the duplex printing doens't appear.
Can you send me the link to driver used in the solution presented bellow?

Hi Francy and Sergio,
Sometimes, depending on the application, there is either a checkbox, or the option is in the Layout menu.
Also, in some applications, when you click print, you only see a condensed driver options screen - there is usually a details, expand, or down arrow button that will change this to the full driver options screen - this could be another reason why the options are not appearing as described in my previous reply.
Try opening different applications, such as preview, text edit, adobe reader, and look for these options - notice the different driver screens that show by default. Whenever I print from mac, I always search for this option prior to configuring the print job so that I ensure that I have access to all available settings.
Please let me know if you need further assistance. (also, please supply the application that you are trying to print two-sided from in your reply).
RE: The word 2011 post, and the 2nd page printing upside down, try changing the binding option in the duplex/layout menu to resolve this.
Thanks!
