Have you tried using Image Capture in your Applications folder?

Re: HP LaserJet 3030 on OS X Lion

Yes I have to no avail.  Image Capture recognizes no scanner, just my iPhone.  Of course my printer/scanner is actively plugged in via USB.  Thanks for looking into this.

Re: HP LaserJet 3030 on OS X Lion

So sorry, I should have looked a this first. Lion only supports printing with this printer, not scanning.

Re: HP LaserJet 3030 on OS X Lion

It seems absolutely amazing to me that Apple, by updating their operating system (10.6 to 10.7), obsoletes previous/prior hardward devices by virtue of not being able to utilize exisitng drivers??!!???!!?!?  I mean Lion hasn't been around that long, and now Mountain Lion is coming out this summer/fall; how many more devices will be obsoleted by this move?  If I had known this I would have stayed with 10.6 where the scanner was working just fine, and with 10.5 Leopard, and 10.4 Tiger etc. etc.  Again, why do printers always work but scanners never do?  Sorry for the rant...

Re: HP LaserJet 3030 on OS X Lion

This change happened at 10.5 to 10.6, which was, architechturally, a huge change.

Re: HP LaserJet 3030 on OS X Lion

The scanner was working just fine all through 10.6, up to 10.6.8 which was the last update.  Then going to 10.7 it all stopped.  It amazes me that from 10.4 to 10.5 to 10.6 there was a lot going on there including the PowerPC to the Intel chip and it worked well through all of that but not 10.6 to 10.7??

Re: HP LaserJet 3030 on OS X Lion

Yeah, that is strange alright.  You could try loading the Full Feature drivers for 10.5....

Re: HP LaserJet 3030 on OS X Lion

Oh, my.  When I looked on the product page (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=37805... there is only a Print-only driver!

You could try third party scan software like VueScan.  Sorry.

Re: HP LaserJet 3030 on OS X Lion

Checked into VueScan and does not support the HP 3030 under Mac OSX.  :-(
