I have a HP Laserjet P1505n printer that processes the job slower than my other printer. I've started from scratch on a 10.3.9 and downloaded the most up-to-date driver from the HP website. Firmware on printer is also up to date. I have another printer tied to the same computer through network (HP Laserjet 4100n). I have printed the same document on both printers while keeping an eye on the printing queue. The 1505 takes 6x's longer than the 4100 during the prining queue processing. Once the printer receives all the data necessary, this is not a problem and actually really fast.

I actually selected HP IP Printing and Auto IP and it's doing much better. The processing is much slower than our 4100 but then again this is 6x more expensive.
The driver I installed is the 1.0.6. The disk it came with has 1.0.5. This seems to make a difference.

I have the slow printing issue on the LaserJet P1505n installed with a static IP on a small network with the latest Windows 7 drivers. The issue does not happen with any Windows XP machines on the network. Please advise.

I have a dozen of these printers in my organization, and ALL of them exhibit slow printing.
One printer is set up with a DHCP reservation, the others are staticly assigned. They all have a queue on a Windows Server 2003 system, and the clients connect to it for 16-bit applications. The flow for 16-bit print jobs is System LPT1 => mapped to print queue on print server => IP of printer. On the print server I'm using the latest driver.
With 32-bit applications, we have 1 user who has a Windows XP machine, who sends his job through the queue. The remaining are HP T5530 Thin Clients, which have the local IP set as the local printer (using the HP Monochrome Laser Printer driver / Windows CE 6), so printer flow is from a Terminal Server (using the generic HP LaserJet driver) => Thin Client => HP Monochrome Driver => IP interface on 1505N.
This will generally print the first page of a document just fine, however, subsiquent printing will be slow. Eventually the printer stops cooperating.
On the DHCP reserved printer (as it's at my location) I've already updated the firmware to the latest version, and it made no improvement.
We have *several* other models of printers in production that are set up the exact same way, and yet these other printers show no issues printing.

I have this exact same problem. We just introduced Win7 PC's and have slow printing on them. It takes minutes to send 1 page. Although, all the other OS's work just fine! Did you ever get a resolution?

I had this issue and fought with HP about the network setup for over an hour before I finally fixed it myself. This issue has been ongoing for over a month. We have flashed the firmware, updated drivers, and gone over the server sharing this printer with a fine tooth comb.
The final resolution was stupid simple. HP uses their own form of TCP/IP port. We had the printer installed using a "Standard TCP/IP Port - 192.168.1.204". I deleted the printer and the port. I created a new "HP Standard TCP/IP Port - 192.168.0.204". After that I re-installed the printer as a LOCAL PRINTER and used the HP Standard TCP/IP Port that I created. I named it the same share name as it had before so that my client computers would reconnect. Print speeds went from about 35-45 seconds to 6-10 seconds.
The best part of this whole experience was all of the quality time I got to spend on the phone with HP Tech Support. The entire hour and twenty minute phone call they helped me with ZERO troubleshooting. They were adamnat that my issue was that the printer was plugged into a "switch port" and not a "router port", and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't drill deep enough into the skull of the support agent or the supervisor on the phone to explain to them that most routers have a "4 port switch" integrated into them and that it's the same thing. They were adamant that my issue was due to network size, and not configuration or setup.
Moral of the story, even US tech support has some morons answering the phones. Check the little things yourself before you get stuck on a phone call with these knuckle heads... that's 80 minutes of my life that I can never have back.....

My Windows 7 didn't have "HP Standard TCP/IP Port" as a choice in Printer Ports: Available Port Types.
After download the wrong HP Network Printer Wizard Installer, which didn't work, I downloaded the latest Full Version Win7-64 Drivers for the P1505n. The Add Printer section of the installation found the new printer, loaded new drivers (I think), and installed the missing "HP Standard TCP/IP Port" as an available port type. I turned on the LPR with Print Queue, and it's printing fast now. The installation also updated the firmware on the printer.
All is well for now.
