i have an HP Photosmart C4680 All in one printer/scanner
ever since upgrading my imac (early 2009 model) to Snow Leopard i have been having printing and scanning problems
my scanner has never worked since upgrading
printing has been spotty at best, but seems to be more reliable in the past week or so since i downloaded the apple hp printing driver update via the software update on my mac.
i have deleted and reinstalled the driver software multiple times
yet nothing works
everytime i try to scan something from my printer, the hp scanner software starts to open on my imac and them promptly crashes
if i try to open up the scanning software from my imac, it crashes
HELP!
i need to be able to use the scanner
thats why i bought the printer/scanner combo in the first place

Scanning from the printer is not yet supported for Snow Leopard. Scan from either Preview or Image Capture from your Mac.
If your printing continues to act odd, do this: delete and re-add the printer in the print queue:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Select the printer in question and click the minus sign at the bottom of the list
- Select the plus sign and re-add it.
If this does not work, do the same thing, only instead of the second step, right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.

Neither Preview nor Image Capture see the printer/scanner for me (running Snow Leopard as well). Printing is fine though. And scanning from the HP does not work.

Hi,
I'm not familiar with Apple but try this. It worked in Win7.
In opened Temp folder, open any folder starting with “7z”.
1. In opened ‘7z” folder, open “Util” folder.
2. Open “CCC” folder.
3. Run “Uninstall_L3.bat” (32-bit) or “Uninstall_L364.bat” (64-bit).
4. Continue with the un-installation wizard.
Restart the computer to make the changes effective.
This should clean your installation.
I've also tried installing minimum drivers, but it did not work.
After the full deinstall try redownloading the FULL version and reinstall.
Another hint, try under a different user on the computer...
Hope this helps!
Mork

these questions were Apple related, specifically Snow Leopard
why would you post something about Windows 7?
this helps no one

I have not been able to scan from HP Photosmart 7180 to my new MAC with OS 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard). I suspect all HP products need to have something done on the MAC to allow the HP scanner to work again. There was an easy fix for the printing issue. Does anyone have a fix for the scanning issue? Thank you.

I recommend uninstalling any HP software that is not specifically made for 10.6. Use the HP uninstaller located in Applications > Hewlett-Packard. Then do a Software Update.
Finally, delete and re-add the printer in the print queue:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Select the printer in question and click the minus sign at the bottom of the list
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer with Bonjour next to it, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If this does not work, do the same thing, only instead of the second step, right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.

Did you delete the HP software or run the uninstaller. You must run the uninstaller to completely get rid of the old software.
