I have been using the HP Photosmart D5460 for about a year now and it has been printing CD's just fine as long as it has ink. I use a Mac running OSX 10.6.8 with the DiscLabel third party application to manage the CD printing on the computer.
Last night I printed one CD and the ink got a little thin towards the end of the print, but it still turned out alright. Then I put another CD in and it won't put ANY ink on the second CD. I can print normal copy paper and I have checked the ink levels on the computer which indicate they are over half full. Does the CD printing process simply require that much ink that it won't print? Any suggestions? I would just buy more ink, but it seems like it would be a waste since the levels are so high and I have recently replaced it. Is there something else that I can check? The printer also has difficulty performing the "clean print heads" function as it simply stops halfway through the process and will not continue despite leaving it to its own devices all night. Therefore I would try that, but it is useless if it doesn't work.
I appreciate your help in advance.

Since I never received a reply to this thread I decided that I needed to do something, so I went out and bought a brand new black ink cartridge for the printer.
Does the printer use the photo ink to print on CD's? I would really appreciate some help on this and I don't have time to wade through a call tree and speak with someone over the phone about this.
