I am thinking of upgrading my OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.7 (Lion) on my iMac in the not too distant future. I am the owner of a HP LaserJet 1015 and I am not too worried about the compatibility for this printer as the support is built into OS X, however, I am also the owner of a HP Scanner G3110 to which I have had to download third-party drivers for OS X from this website to make the scanner operate. So the question is, will this third-party software for OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) be compatibie with the new OS X 10.7 (Lion) operating system? or if not, possibly have the vaguest idea when the drivers will be updated? I am totally dependent on the scanner and hesitant to upgrade incase the current software is not compatible.

Start up system profiler from Utilities and see what Power PC applications you have. Those will not be lion friendly. My Hp Smartphoto c 8260 is in that type so Hp has to update our printer driver or some 3rd party solution as I see it.

VueScan works great in OS X Lion. You can trial it before you purchase (I have the Professional Edition which has lifetime updates---the Standard version comes with one year of free updates). Head over to http://www.hamrick.com
By the way, the HP driver for my OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless works on the printing side, but locks up with the Scan function.
But I have VueScan, so big deal...

The G3110 was supported in Mac OS 10.6 and is/will be supported in Mac OS 10.7.
I can not find the external link to the ScanJet Support document for OS 10.7 so I have attached it as a PDF.
The document covers upgrading from 10.6 to 10.7 using the HP Scanning Software availabel on the Scanner's support page.
I have also installed the Mac OS 10.6 solution (HP_Installer_ScanJet_v.2.4.4_Ph5.dmg) after a clean Mac OS 10.7 install and have it working. So far I have tested teh G3110 and G4050.
The only issue I have encountered is that in Mac OS 10.7 switching between multiple scanners does not seem to work and the ScanJet Prefs force the Preferences Pane to re-open in 32-bit mode.
Anyway, I have attached the official support document for HP Scanners and Mac OS 10.7. It looks like a full 10.7 soultion is forth coming.

that document contained good information, is there a similar document covering laserjet printers? My HP 3390 scan/fax support no longer works after installing lion 10.7

I do not currently have a list of all the All-in-One and MFP devices that will be supported in Mac OS 10.7 for other than print.
While your LaserJet 3390 AiO will print with the software that is included with Mac OS 10.7, there is no scanning or faxing software solution available.
The LaserJet 3390 did not recieve full support in Mac OS 10.6 and therefore will most likely not get a software update for 10.7.

I am in the same boat, I have 2 MacBook Pros, 1 with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and the LaserJet 3390 AiO works fine. The other MacBook Pro has been "upgraded" to Lion and the LaserJet 3390AiO is just a printer, scanning functions no longer work. HP Director install perfectly, but it cannot detect the connected device via USB.
I have installed the drivers from:
Available from the driver category.
Anyone about to shed any light on this?
