Hope you can help me (and thanks for your efforts). Have a MB Pro 13, 2 mos old; printed to a HP LJ 3600n via USB (not network) just fine under OSX10.5; since 'upgrading' to OS X 10.6/Snow Leopard, it will NOT print from the MacBook Pro.
It prints OK from a Win XP PC (A/B switch in use to switch between two computers to the printer via USB). But tried again today to clear the printer memory by doing the advised unplugging and restarting. Still get a 'part of your driver software is missing' message when I try to print from the MacBook Pro to the LJ3600. On one occasion today, it seemed to start to print, BUT it's been sending the file to the printer (msg on the 'job screen') for 3 hrs now without changing or printing--it's a half page Word document...normally would queue and print in seconds.
PLEASE ADVISE! I am confouded as to how to provide the 'missing' software when it came from the Snow Leopard disc itself.
Please answer in terms an intermediate person can follow easily.

Are there any plans in supporting the 2600 series of color lasers. We have quite a few around the office (2600n) and have made the Macs with Snow Leopard using the previous driver. However, is there any plans for native support.

I am still confused about the future of HP support on the Mac. It seems that by only using the built in Apps on the Mac we have lost a lot of capabilities of the all-in-one devices. I currently have Two, a C309a and C6180 and while both can fax and scan and print, I have lost the ability to use the Memory Card Readers (Access on the Mac themselves) and the 'Scan To Computer Option' (Being able to walk up to the Printer and use the Scan to Computer and send the scan to a particular program, i.e. MS Word. It seems like a big step backwards!
I am wondering what the plans are for the missing features, or this is the best we can expect?

Disconnect the USB cable from the printer and Mac
Go out and manually download and install the HP PrintinG Update 2.0 from Apple here:
And install it.
Reset the printing system by <control> clicking or right clicking on the printer list in the Print & Fax preferences. Follow the prompts.
Reboot the Macintosh.
Connect the USB cable to the 3600. A print queue should be automagically created.

I can't speak to the issues with the memory cards, but I can assure you that a forthcoming HP software release will restore walk-up scan functionality for your devices. You will need to download and install the HP software in order to restore missing scan functions. Please keep watching this board for announcements regarding the release of HP's Snow Leopard compatible software for your devices.
( Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP. )
