Hp All in One Photosmart C7280 scan issue with Snow Leopard [ Edited ]

Heyho all, just installed my printer and found it acts like all have written. I have had to go into applications and click preview

go to file

import from scanner

across to include networked devices

back to import scanner

across to c7280 printer 

brings up scanner

unable to find paper

had to change to flatbed scanner 

scan worked.

hope this helps

although they should make it straight forward with their HP software.

Why don't you go to Applications and drag the Image Capture app to your Dock and start from there.  It should be a lot more straightforward than what you are doing.

probably because I have had the mac for 3 days and still finding out what does what at the moment. wrote as clear as I could

I'm having a problem as well on my C7280 All in one.  I can Print, and I can fax, but it says I don't have a scanner when I go to preview and try to import from scanner (nothing happens).  Do I need to download the drivers again?  I did this once before and everything was working just fine, until now, don't know what happened....

Hi Sue, I did reload the printers cd then I did exactly as described, once I included network devices my printer was then highlighted under the import from scanner heading. Once I clicked on this my scanner warmed up and I had to alter a couple of paper settings and scanner worked. A bit long winded but it at least worked.

Has anyone found a solution where the HP software works for the scanner (e.g. HP Scan Pro) through the HP device Manager?

It would be so much better if this worked rather than having to go through the Preview app

If you are using Scan Pro and Device Manager with Snow Leopard, well, it should not work.

Uninstall the HP software you have loaded for your printer - it is likely for 10.5 only:

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish

Now, run a Software Update.

Next, remove and re-install the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax.

You do not need the software now since Snow Leopard has both print & scan drivers built-in. Scan from Preview or Image Capture apps. Scanning from the front panel of the printer does not yet work.

Did anyone get the scanner working under Snow Leopard.

I've tried many of the suggestion from here and Apples site and still no joy in get this to work.

Just wanted to let you know that I resolved my scanner issue by reading your 2009 post! 

    After I wen to PREVIEW / IMPORT FROM SCANNER, It took a few minutes for my Photosmart 7200 Series to show up.   Once it showed up VOILA, I was able to scan from my printer to my Mac.

  Ahhhhh, the wonder of information on the internet!
