Hi!
So, i got my new imac a couple of months ago and i just plugged in my printer via USB (no usb hub), the system recognized it and downloaded the new driver with software update and it was on the list of my printers. But when i tried to print something, it says the printer is not connected, or the printer is offline. Same with the scanning. (Scanner not available, Status: Offline)
I didnt bother too much with it, because i waited for the Lion. But same thing here too...
I tried to unplug the printer, reseting the printing system, deleting the drivers, every solution i found in this forum, but nothing seems to work.
The printer is working, because i also have a Macbook Pro, and works with it flawless.
Any idea? Thanks.

I am not sure why it doesn't work. Let's start with reparing the disk permissions:
Finder: Applications > Utilites > Disk Utility.
Choose your Macintosh HD on the left then click "Repair Disk Permissions" along the bottom. It may take a long time.
Restart your Mac.
Reset the printing system again, re-add the printer and see what happens.

OK, let's reset the printer - turn it off, unplug power from the back of the printer for a couple of minutes. Plug back in and turn on.
This is a strange thing, it should just work.

After resetting the printer, i get this:
And of course, the printing is not working.
After this, i resetted the printing system, and i am trying to add my printer again to the list, but now, theres 2 printer, 1 Scanner end 1 USB... So u plugged out my usb cable, resetted the printing system again, and now, i can see my multifunction printer on the list. It says Idle, with a little green dot, but when i try to print anything, it says "Sending data to printer.", and after a couple of minutes, my printer goes offline in the list.
So basically, same thing.

Please try resetting the printer system once again,
Re-ass your printer by clicking the Plus sign.
Click the Apple icon and select Software Update.
Install the HP Printer Software update 2.7.
Reboot your Mac and try printing.
As well, try connecting the printer to another free USB port and check for any change.

My software is up to date. I did everything that you said, same thing, it says my printer is offline when i try to print something, i cant even see my Supply levels(Information not available). I tried with all of the USB ports, nothing seems to work. I guess i need to reinstall my system.

Ok, let's check some further information..
Do you have the full HP Software installed on your system? as the same issue appeared for Snow Leopard as well..
If so, please completely remove it by running the HP Uninstaller, located under Applications/Hewlett-Packard.
While your printer model is listed, hold both CTRL+ALT+CMD buttons and click Uninstall.
It will prompt you that HP Software will be completely removed.
Reset the Printing System
Repair the disk permissions by using the Disk Utility
(Utilities > Disk Utility > Select your hard drive and Click Repair Disk Permissions under the First Aid tab,
Reboot your Mac and re-add the printer, a driver should be automaticlly downloaded.

Ok, so please try installing the full software and check for any change (You may click Customize to select the printing drivers only):
Although the software is intended to work with Snow Leopard and below, from my experience, the specific software version could be installed over Lion as well.
