Hp deskjet 3054A all-in one only scans 1/4 of the page

My HP deskjet 3054 all-in-one model CR237A scans 1/4 of the page when scanning to my imac using Lion.  I assume it is just some setting I am missing, but I cannot find anywhere to make a change.

Hi,
It seems as the default scan workflow configured to crop the picture by its default settings.

First, install the Critical Update below:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL41827/mp-101648-1/HP_Scan_for_Mac_OS_X_10.7_Update.dmg

Now change the device settings as following:
1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle to enlarge the menu.
6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Crop To and set as None.
7. Click OK and try scanning.

I was not scanning with an app.....straight from the scanner.  I pushed the button on the scanner.

I will try this when I get home, I don't have access to the computer while at work.  I had previously tried changing the "crop to" to letter size  from 4 x 6, and it did not make a difference.  Also, when I went back into the scan tasks section it had reverted back to 4x6.

I downloaded the update.  The scanner no longer scans just a 1/4 of the page; however, for the life of me, I cannot seem to get it to scan the entire page without it splitting the page into different parts.  I think it is trying to identify the text parts of the page I am scanning and splitting it into different files, but I just want the entire page scanned. When I click on HP Utility it says the device is "unknown" and everything about it is "unknown."

What do I do now?

OK, in Image Capture, on the right side click the pull down next to Auto Selection.  Choose either Off or Detect Enclosing Box.

Where is that?  When I try to scan a document all I do is:

1) Turn on the scanner

2) Put the page in the scanner

3) Push the scanner button

When the document has been scanned it shows up as an image file in my iPhoto.  I have no acess to settings that I am aware of.

Oh, sorry.   Use Image Capture in your Applications folder.  Click on your scanner on the left, then Show Details along the bottom.  The settings will be along the right side.

This provides way more control than scanning from the printer.
