I have already buy a Deskjet 1050, how can it work at my Mac which in OS v10.4?

Since the driver disc only support OS v10.5 & 10.6, and I don't want upgrade my system now.

Is there any driver that I can download to use this deskjet?

Hi vicikong,

Note to All: HP doesn't support this product in Mac OS X 10.4.x. The currently supported Mac OS X versions are 10.5.x and 10.6.x. Be sure to double-check the support and drivers page for your product to see which versions of the OS are supported. While the following info may provide functionality, HP support can only help with SUPPORTED operating systems.

I found the following information on the apple discussion forums. There was a user there that had a similar/identical situation, and was able to get it resolved. The link to the thread with this info is Here

Quote from Matt Broughton: "The Gutenprint drivers do not support this printer. The HPIJS driver, however, show that they support this printer. You can download all you need at http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/hpijs. Be sure to install all three packages - Foomatic-RIP, Ghostscript, and the hpijs drivers."

Hope this helps to get you up and going :smileyhappy:

Thanks Kudos! Now I can print!

But one more problem is the scanning, since just can find the printer in the page set up, but how can I find the scaning driver? No scan button at the deskjet.

You could try the solution in this document - "Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5: Scanning without Using HP Software"

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02774651&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en

I can't really think of any other options (Any other Mac experts, feel free to reply if you have additional thoughts/ideas).

Although I don't believe it includes a driver, one thing I would try is searching for a download for Photosmart Studio. It's a long shot, but it might work; in your situation, I would try what I could. Worst-case scenario is it doesn't work, and you uninstall Studio.

Let me know how it goes :smileyhappy: Glad you are at least able to print!

Thanks again!

I have install the Readiris Pro free trial, and also I can find a HP Scan Pro in my computer finally.

Unfortunately they both not work!  I will try to find out the solution later.

As you said, at least I can print!

You can try scaning with Preview software, inluded in all macs. Under "file" you will find the option.

Good luck
