I have a LaserJet P1006 that I use with a Macbook Pro Version 10.6.8. I can get the "printer offline" message to stop. I've tried everything: unplugged it (both printer cable and A/C). I've restarted my machine. Nothing makes a difference. I've had this printer for 2 years so I can't figure out why this is happening now. I've changed nothing. I'd reinstall the software if I could find it on HP's site. I dont' see anything for the Mac 10.6.8. But I'd really rather *not* reinstall software.
Anyone got any ideas?

First, download and install this: support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Next, reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
Finally, download and install the printer software from here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloa

Here are a few ideas:
1. Restart the printer and Mac.
2. Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
3. Make sure the printers are plugged into your Mac directly, not through a USB hub.
4. Change the USB cable.
5. If that all fails, reset your Mac's SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Hi Dean, not sure which one but it worked. Never used the hub which is why it was strange.
Thanks ;-)
