Another data point for laserjet 1022 mac driver problems:
Did an upgrade to 10.6 on my iMac from 10.5. All Apple software updates are done.
I have a PhotoSmart C5280 all-in-one and LaserJet 1022n. The 5280 is via USB, the 1022 is via ethernet. Both were working fine prior to upgrades.
I have tried various combinations of add/remove printers, reset of printing system, power cycles of printers and mac.
Test pages initiated from the mac work fine. Had a problem with media limits being set to 8.5x11 after doing print system reset, but power cycle got me back to A4.
Have tried to print from various sources. Print output looks fine in Preview/PDF. Prints correctly on 5280. Only first page prints on 1022n (have not tried more than two pages). No failures, just a blank page comes out as page two. So, problem does not seem common to mac configuration or software.
1022n was running "HP LaserJet 1022, 188.8.131.52" driver.
I switched to the Gutenprint v5.2.3 driver and could print second page. The media limits are a bit off, however, so the right side of the test page border does not print. Have switched back and forth a few times with predictable results: always the HP 1022 driver does not print second page.

Update to my post regarding only printing first page of two. I decided to burn some more toner and print longer jobs: I printed 4 and 7 page jobs. Seems the 1022n prints odd numbered pages only with an extra blank sheet at the end if there are even number of pages in the job. My results:
pages = 1; prints 1 page
pages = 2; prints page 1 plus a blank page
pages = 4; prints page 1, 3 plus a blank page
pages = 7; prints page 1, 3, 5, 7 (no blank page)
Side note: the print dialog boxes are quite slow (feels like windows!). Switching the radio button from "all" to "from" or typing in the page numbers has keyboard/mouse delay of 1-2 seconds. Same for laserjet 1022 and photosmart C5280.

same problem here. nothing works. nothing helps.
probably trashing my 1022 and buying a new printer (mabye samsung?) will be the best and in either case fastest answer to this problem.

I had the issue with alternate pages only printing and flashing lights of the printer as many others have reported on my 1022 over USB. However, for me the old drivers (2006) seem to be working fine in Snow Leopard. They can be downloaded here:
-Install the drivers (from the pkg-file).
-Open the printer settings in the system preferences.
-Then remove the old installation(s) by marking them and clicking on the (-)-sign
-Add a new printer by clicking on the (+)-sign
-Make sure that you chose the driver "HP LaserJet 1022"-driver and not the HP LaserJet 1022, 184.108.40.206" driver.
I don't know if there are any issues with using these old drivers yet, as I have not tested them much yet. However, I was at least successful in printing a multiple page document twosided from Firefox.

Any update HP?
It's been a long time since there's been any response to this thread and the problem still exists!
I was hoping that you would work with Apple to release updated drivers in the latest Snow Leopard update - but no, there's no improvement.
I'm seriously disappointed with HP at this point. Don't you realise that your customers who use your products at home also sometimes use them at work too, and even make buying decisions? Why would I consider your systems for my employer's use, now I know how bad your service is?

Have you tried the old driver? (See my post above). I have tested printing from several applications now, and it has worked flawlessly for me under Snow Leopard. Although I admit it is no excuse for HP not addressing the issues with the current driver, it may at least a solution to your problem...

Cytokrom_C's solution worked for me so far. If there are any problems I'll post again. Thank you very much for posting it.
I would still like to see HP issue a driver update that brings back manual duplex. My college purchased a bunch of 1022n printers and we will be very displeased if they start requiring twice as much paper as we've been using.
