Laserjet 1536DNf not duplex printing

I'm on Lion 10.7.3 and have a Laserjet 1536DNF multi-function printer. I can no longer print duplex even though I select two-sided and long-edge binding on the layout page. I'm not sure when this first started -- maybe after the last update. AFAIK, I have the latest drivers from Apple. Any solutions?

I connected the printer to my old laptop running Snow Leoplard and still could NOT do auto duplex printing when I could before. So the problem does not appear to be caused by OSX.

I tried duplex copying and dit works (2 one-sided originals to 1 two-ssided copy).

I've uninstalled then downloaded and  reinstalled the newest HP software and this made no difference.

I've contacted HP support to no avail -- so far they only sent the instructions on how to duplex print which I already knew and is NOT the problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the post.  Good T-shooting steps BTW!  I'm not completely sure why you don't have this function now, however, I did locate a great link on the APPLE site that addresses this, I will continure to check on this end.    Good Luck!

I've checked all these and the PPD file appears correct. At first I thought this was a result of the lion 10.7.3 update but now I don't know since I tried printing with my old MacBookPro laptop running Snow Leopard. Maybe the Lion update screwed some setting in the printer??? Thanks for your assistance.

After a couple of phone conversations with a "supervisor" in technical support, HP sent me a refurbished replacement and mow I can duplex print. Problem was in the printer.
