HP Pro B9180gp PrinterI am unable to use my printer since updating my Mac Pro to Lion/The Test sheet informs me that there is a Firmware Error, the printer appears to be in a continuos loop, i.e. initials ion / begins closed loop calibration, then reports a problem and asks me to unplug the power source and replace / this problem continues until the printer runs out of ink. I have followed all the help line suggestion but of no avail .Can this printer be serviced and where ?

I think your change to Lion may be coincidental and may not be related to your problem.
Which version of fw is listed on the test page (I think it's line 15)...
How long since you've last used the printer successfully?

Thank you for your responce
FW line 15 :20071116 KPP0027A The serial no is [Personal Information Removed]
I have been unable to print any thing other than the test page for aproximately two months , there is a warning that states the printer has lost the connection with the computer, after the printer has proceded into the phase of the closed loop calibration, approx 2 minutes, the function simply freezes, and asks for a restart.
I have tried a new usb cable plus all of the other options given by your colleague on the HP help line, With no success.
Thank you for your patience

sorry about your time away from hoem...I asked because I have a similar printer and it took awhile to get it going again after I had left it unplugged from power for several months.... those printers really appreciate regular use and when they're left plugged in (and the standby/power button on front is off), they go through diagnostic and cleaning cycles to keep them ready to print... so I was wondering if things were timing out or failing since the printer had been power-unplugged for awhile and it was busy with calibration, etc.
let's go back ...
to be sure we're working from the newest/stablest drivers, have you already removed the printer and added it back?
go to the Print and Fax panel of System Preferences, then unplug and replug the USB cable, then add that device back in the Print and Fax panel. If a sw update is applicable, the Mac OS will detect that and prompt you to download and install a printing update for hp devcies....
Does that make a difference?

Yes !- I reinstalled the software from Apple, even to the point of deleting Lion and reinstalling Snow Leopard, I also installed new print heads,
![]()
A rough estimate Heads / ink cartriges / Photo paper / it has cost over £1000. all with no success.
The reason I kept trying to find the problem, the results when it was working were exceptional, the best I have had, and every thing on the printer was working so well.
the test prints eg. print heads were all good, now two the print heads are fair and I have run out of ink again.
Obviously I can"t afford to carry on like this. Sorry do you know any one that would like a Hp Pro B9180gp.
Thank you for your time and effort.
