Are there any available print drivers for osX 10.7 for the Deskjet 4480 printer? I have only been able to find the drivers for osX up to v10.6 for the 4480 Printer. I tried to install them and they did not work with 10.7 so as of now I cannot print since the upgrade.

Download and install this: support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Dean, the driver installed fine, but it appears the problem is now that the HP Print Utilty which allows me to add / remove printers is too out of date. It will not list the pritner attached to the machine and thus i cannot add it. If i tell it that the printer is not listed, it will then find it but not allow me to add it with a message indicating "if your printer is not listed, you cannot add it and need to update your Print Utility software' (thats a bit from memory). My problem right now is that the printer is not connected to the internet and i cannot get a new copy of the print utility. It appears i am stuck untll we can get it connected to the internet.

If you are using Snow Leopard or Lion and have HP software for pre-Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6/10.7 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard or Lion and had the HP software on your Mac before you upgraded - even if you did a standard uninstall of the old software or installed new software over the top of it) you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
Restart your Mac
Now reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Still no luck Dean. I get all the way down to the last step in your process - "select the plus sign to add" and it does not bring up any printers to add. Printer is on, printer is attached to computer, tried multiple ports, turned printer on and off. Did the restart of computer where required. This is basically what i have seen the entire time. Prior to wiping out the HP software, i was able to say 'my printer is now shown' and it would then find it but just not let me add it as it was not supported by that version of the install program. Any other thoughts?

OK, let's download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907 (even if you have done it before).
Then restart and try resetting the printing system again.

I actually already tried that before i sent my previous answer. Cleaned everythnig up... failed to add (last step). Reinstalled the driver from the apple site download, again failed to add. When i click the plus sign to add, just nothing shows up at all. Had it not previously recognized the printer (before cleanup) when i said 'my printer is not listed', i would have thought it was an issue with the connection. However, it did allow me to select it (pre-cleanup), but then indicated that i could not add it with the current version of the HP software. Perhaps there is a way i can get a new version of the HP Print utility? (that machine is not conected to the internet currently).

There is no version of the HP driver with a user interface for 10.7 (like HP Print Utility), sorry.
Let's work on OS X itself:
1. Dowload and install the 10.7.4 Combo update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1524
2. Open Finder and go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Open it.
Select your Macintosh HD on the left, then click "Repair Disk Permissions" along the bottom and let it finish.
