No scan function for Photosmart C4280 All in One after updating to Mac OSX Lion

I have downloaded the software update and new drivers, whatever, from Apple, and also the drivers from support.apple.com referenced elsewhere in this forum. and the printer function works fine from either a usb connection of via airport network, but the scan function has disappeared. There is no scan.app in the Hewlett Packard folder, and there was before. In theory, the scan function should be networked through Airport just like the printer function, but I've never been able to make that happen. Now, no scan function even with usb direct to computer. Please, please help. I am going insane here.

Hi,

First, connecting the printer by USB thrugh Airport should provide you print functionality only, it does not provide any scan functionality.

As you may find listed below, only printing sharing functionality described by Apple's specification:

Next, while the printer directly connected by USB, you should be able to scan through Iamge Capture.

There shouldn't be any Hewlett-Packard folder, the scan functionality provided through Image Capture as a full feature software not available for the OS.

Please follow any of the options below to find how to scan using Lion:

If you still not able to scan, installing the latest HP Printer Drivers package and try scanning again:

Thank you. The driver download link did not work, but I was able to find DL907 on the HP website and download from there. Yes, I can now scan from Image Capture when the C4280 is connected to the computer by USB. Thank you for your help.
