OS 10.6 COMPATIBILITY

I am seeing various HP Printer - OS 10.6 compatibility entries in this Forum.  

 

I am running a plain  DeskJet D4360 ( 4300 Series ) printer.  As with others in the Forum, my printer worked just fine with OS 10.5.  Now it will not work with OS 10.6.  My Printer  appears in Print - Fax System Preferences, but my D 4360 does not appear in the software listings. 

 

  After about five message exchanges with HP Support -   I have been told I could try using the HP DeskJet 990C drivers (they did not work ), but that the 4300 SERIES IS NOT YET COMPATIBLE WITH OS 10.6 - Snow Leopard.  

 

I have been counseled to  be patient.  HP is committed to providing  "updated software soon" for several HP Printer series.   So, for now - I will just keep checking the Software Driver Update web page.  

 

Overall .... Love my HP printer and the Snow Leopard, but must find a solution to this problem - SOON !  Help HP !

Exact problem. Caught me off guard. Thought Apple and HP would have this solved with all the time they had. Hope it happens very soon.

Thanks for your posting. And kudos to Apple and HP.  Apple fixed 80% of my printer problem with the release of OS 10.6.1 last week -  which included fixes for many printer compatibility problems.  Also, HP's new drivers released a couple of days later ...  for the 4300 Series did the rest. I am now one contented customer. JAMman55
