Re: OS Lion and HP laserjet pro cm1415fnw

Hi

Did you install the drivers from the CD that came with the printer?

Just in case, you may try the latest from HP site.

Mac:

Re: OS Lion and HP laserjet pro cm1415fnw

Regarding the Mac OS, a full software for your printer is not yet available for Lion,

Make sure your printer is connected to your Mac by usb or connected to the same network as your Mac.

Enter System Preferences > Print & Scan.

Click the Plus sign and add your printer, a basic softwre will be obtained from Apple software update.

After the driver has been installed, click the Plus sign once again and add the CM1415 Fax as well.

You will be able to print, Fax and Scan from your Mac,

Scanning will be possible either by the Apple Preview, Image Capture or the Print & Scan dialog.

A full feature Lion software will be be published at HP site immediately as available

Re: OS Lion and HP laserjet pro cm1415fnw

Thanks ShlomIL

When I tried this there was no way to add the printer that I could find.  The sytem couldn't detect it and there was no option available that I could find to type in a name.  Is there a way to add it via IP or something else?

Re: OS Lion and HP laserjet pro cm1415fnw

Hi,

Can you reach the printer homepage by typing its IP from Safari?

You may add the printer by it's IP address, but t should provide you printing only

In order to add the printer, Open System Preferences > Print & Scan and click the Plus sign.

Click the IP icon at the top.

Select the HP Jetdirect - Socket protocal, type the printer IP address and click Add.

Re: OS Lion and HP laserjet pro cm1415fnw

At the Settings Panel I choose "+" (add printer) and select the CM1415FNW (which is shown in the dropbox as a valid option to install). Then I've got surprised because it advertises that there is an software available for this printer at Apple and ask for permission to download and install! It seemed great but after few minutes a new message comes up saying: "The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software."

You guys MUST be kidding... it is the second time that I buy an HP printer and it doesn't work with the latest Apple OSX.

It works fine with WINDOWS ?!?!?! How difficult it is to make it work with OSX ?!?!? You already did the most hard work, please make it available for OSX LION.... It is frustrating to open a box, to follow all the install procedures and then... THERE'S NO SUCH DRIVER FOR YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM! ALL I HAVE IS A DEAD AND USEFULLESS EQUIPMENT AT MY DESK!

Oh... but it is connected to the wi-fi network!!!! That's something, isn't it?!?! :-P

Waiting for some respectfull and usefull reply from HP.

Re: OS Lion and HP laserjet pro cm1415fnw

Hi,

As you can see listed below, the driver for your printer is currently available by Apple Software Update:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP

(Listed as HP LaserJet CM1410 Series)

IF it fails to locate the driver for some reason, install the full HP Printer Software 2.7 Package and then add your printer by using the Plus sign:

http://support.apple.com/downloads/DL907/en_US/HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers2.7.2.dmg

It should help you solving the issue, i have the exact same model up and running with Lion.

Re: OS Lion and HP laserjet pro cm1415fnw

[ Edited ]

Hi, i'm not normally the person that writes on these cuz i'm not very technical but through some strange super-human nerd strength I managed to sort it.

Just had the same problem, livid with the fact i just bought a printer and its apparently not compatible even though it's on the list of compatible printers with OSX Lion.

Same problem with software update etc.

SO! after two hours on the phone with the laserjet specialist support team who's conclusion was that it's actually not compatible and it's apple's fault for releasing a operating system without telling anyone, NEWSFLASH THEY DO THAT WITH ALL OF THEIR PRODUCTS IF YOU CAN'T DEAL WITH IT, DON'T SELL PRODUCTS FOR APPLE!

i then told them it was advertised on their website that it WAS compatible so naturally it's something wrong with the printer so they wanted to exchange it... i told them it wasn't as i had just got it out of the box.

On my own i found this thread, downloaded the full list of drivers from http://support.apple.com/downloads/DL907/en_US/HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers2.7.2.dmg

IT STILL DID NOT WORK!!! just before throwing it out of the window

i then went to finder, went to MACINTOSH HD and went to

Library  ->

Printers ->

HP ->

PPDs -->

Content -->

Resources -->

THEN unzipped the file HP Laserjet CM1410 Series.gz (there's also a fax one too)

i then saved the resulting file to my desktop.

Next i went to print and fax, selected the (+) button, pressed OTHER then on the drop down list of which driver to use i selected my new driver that i placed on my desktop...

ACTUAL RESULT!!! and i'm a music student not a bloody HP TECHNICIAN!!! wonder how much more they get paid than me.

Completly livid with the level of support recieved from HP.

Hope every1 gets it working!

Dan
