I also paid a thousand dollars for an HP Laserjet 2840 for my business.  I am unable to use scanning functions from my newer Macs running OS 10.7.

Dissapointing is not the word...

I cannot get the scan function to work on my HP Color Laserjet 2840 as I just loaded Mac OSX Snow Leopard to my computer (yes, I am behind).  I just read that some of you figured out how to scan using Snow Leopard.  Can you share with me how you figured this out.  I worked with HP support for over an hour trying to restore Scan capability, but was not only unsuccessful, but was told by HP that they would chare me for future support on this issue.  What?  I buy an expensive printer, install an old version of software that came out in 2009, and now I have lost scan capability?  Unless this gets resolved, I will never buy another HP product.  So frustrating!

You will find the name of driver you need on here in this thread. I don't think HP makes it available any more. If you find it you can install the old software and you should be able to have full functionality back again.  And next time don't buy an HP. I've moved to Brother. I found HP no help either. Good luck!

They way that I solved my HP 2840 problem was to buy a Brother Printer.  It works fabulously, and they actually support their products.  What a novel concept.  I will NEVER buy another HP product again, and can only hope all other Mac Users follow suit.
