Problem: Cannot install HP software. Installation stalls at "Running HP IP CUPS backend Installer script"
Four days ago, my printer icon disappeared from the dock. HP Support has provided lengthy instructions on how to manually uninstall HP software. Regardless, I cannot install the HP software for my All-in-One. As a result of uninstalling my HP software, several of my applications do not work (Endicia, MS Excel, all iWorks apps, Photoshop, iPhoto). I received a detailed list of instructions to fix this too, but it did not fix anything. I know this isn't an issue of a faulty USB cable because I can plug the cable into my old PowerBook and print from there. The problem is, my business, store, etc. are in my G5. Do any of you have suggestions on how to fix this problem? This is really slowing me down. Thank you.

Have you done a Software Update (Apple menu > Software Update)? If there were OS X components that were damaged in the uninstall process this should fix them.
If not, download and run the Combo updater from here.
