OfficeJet Pro L7680 on Mac OS X 10.7 "The printer is not connected"

The L7680 has worked fine since OS X 10.7 was installed, but after a power failure the other day, after a print command I receive an error message, "The printer is not connected." I've gone through all the routines suggested in HP Troubleshooting and the problem is not resolved. Any ideas?

Re: OfficeJet Pro L7680 on Mac OS X 10.7 "The printer is not connected"

Hi,

Please clarify how the printer is connected.

Is it through the network or by USB?

For network connection, can you see the printer connected with a valid IP Address?
Follow these steps to print a network configuration page:
  1. On the product, press the Setup button.
  2. Press the Right Arrow button ( ) to select Network , and then press OK .
  3. Press the Right Arrow button ( ) to select View Network Settings , and then press OK .
  4. Press the Right Arrow button ( ) to select Print Network Configuration Page , and then press OK . The network configuration page prints.

Please clarify the IP address listed by the report above.

Regards,

Shlomi

The connection is wireless, the IP addres is 169.254.218.17. I cannot currently see the printer as connected, though when I give a print command it first replies"Printer Ready".

Re: OfficeJet Pro L7680 on Mac OS X 10.7 "The printer is not connected"

Ok, that is not a DHCP address, probably the cause for the problem.

Restore the network defauls, than reconnect the printer to the wireless network:

First, restore the network settings:

  1. On the product, press the Setup button.
  2. Press the Right Arrow button ( ) to select Network , and then press OK .
  3. Press the Right Arrow button ( ) to selectRestore Network Defaults, and then press OK .
  4. Confirm any screen and return to the main screen

Next, reconnect to the wireless network:

  1. On the product control panel, press Setup .
  2. Use the down arrow button ( ) to highlight Network , and then press OK to display the Network menu.
  3. Use the down arrow button ( ) to highlight Wireless Setup Wizard , and then press OK . The setup wizard searches for available networks, and then displays a list of detected wireless network names (SSIDs).
  4. Use the down arrow button ( ) to highlight your wireless network SSID, and then press OK .
NOTE:The wizard prompts for the network WEP key, if you configured security settings on the network.

  5. Highlight the letter or number on the visual keyboard, and then press OK to enter the letter.
  6. Highlight Done on the visual keyboard, and then press OK .
  7. Press OK again to confirm the settings.
  8. The product will attempt to connect to the network. After the wireless network is set up successfully, a message appears stating that the connection was successful. Press OK to clear the message.

Now make sure to cancel any existing print job from the print queue and try printing again.

If it still fails, please let me know the currect IP address.

Shlomi
