Thought so. And yes, I understand the security (or lack thereof) issue relating to hidden SSIDs. It's just another layer of deterrence against his neighborhood kids. Thanks again for your help!!

I found most of these answers to be ineffective as the options on the printer's LCD / menu does not indicate ANY WPA settings, only WEP.
The most effective method of setting WPA is to ethernet cable connect to the printer then use HP Solution Centre on a network connected PC / MAC to go to Other Setting / Other / Network.
By digging down you will find the WPA settings.
You cannot set WPA security through the printer menu options alone (or if you can I can't find them and it it's hidden that well then it is useless).

Well the hard cable connect didn't work either. The settings made in Solution Centre aren't being 'taken up' by the the printer. It appears the printer firmware is too far out of date and none of the recent and not-so-recent updates address WPA security.
Looks like I turn off wireless and go back to ethernet cable.

On the front of the printer: Setup > Network > Restore Defaults. Now, in the same Network menu, run the Wireless Setup Wizard.
If that does not work, reset the printer. Turn it off, hold the #and 6 keys while turning it back on.

Thanks for the attempt but all was futile.
Had tried the 'reset factory default' and 'run wireless wizard before without success. Tried it again - still the only option on the LCD menu is to enter a WEP password, there is no option to select WPA or WPA2 security through the printer LCD menu.
Tried the magic # & 6 power-on - didn't make any difference. Also tried the hard-wired connection to update the security to 'infrastructure' and WPA as well as WPA-PSK settings after the factory reset. None of these changes made it into the printer itself.
EIther I missed a firmware upgrade (firmware version RL7001xNx ) or there wasn't one to allow WPA/WPA2 security. Shouldn't have missed a firmware upgrade as I have it set to autocheck for updates.
Have abandoned all hope of wireless with my 7410 under WPA and won't take the risk of returning to WEP. Have gone back to wired network.
Regards

Even though it says WEP, it should take a WPA-TKIP passphrase.

Nope - msg "Invalid WEP Key"
There's some waffle about a 5 or 13 character key OR a 10 or 26 hex string but neither requirement is a WPA standard.
Cat 5 cable draped around the house to the annoyance of the wife. All hope for wireless WPA abandoned.
