Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

Hi SlomIL,

I upgraded to Lion this week and now I'm having the same network folder issues.  I keep getting network errors.  Any suggestions?  It was working swell until I installed Lion!

Thanks!

Michelle

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

Please provide a solution HP Support.  After upgrading to Lion I also am not able to scan to network folder.

I have verified that I can connect to the SMB Shares from Windows.  Only the printer is having a problem now.

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

This is disgraceful for a company the size of HP and known for their printers.  OS X Lion has been out since July 20, 2011.  Hardware vendors have early access to the software to make sure their software/hardware supports such upgrades.  Every other hardware vendor that had an issue with Lion and network folders which I use had updated their drivers within months of the release with exception of HP.

I purchased my HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus because my last OfficeJet Pro was not supported by Snow Leopard and I was told to upgrade.  I did and once again HP has stopped supporting the "Scan to Network Folder" option with Lion.

This is the last HP printer that I will purchase and you'll be sure I don't recommend and HP printer to anyone else.

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

on your post you say "

You should use the following path template:

//IP-ADRESS/Sahred-Folder-Name" (end Quote)

You say the slashes should be \\, and not / /.

Which is correct?

thanks,

MWG

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

Hi,

this problem is a problem of Apple and HP together. You can find similar problems and partial solutions in other

discussions, also at apple's site.

The problem is caused by a new protocol version of SMB used for reaching a network folder.

Apple has updated that protocol version with LION.

The HP drivers were not updated yet to support this.

One possibility to make MAC OS X Lion compatible was to install SMBUp.

But this work around seemed to work for MAC OS X 10.7.3,

but doe no longer work for 10.7.4!

So please @HP, the update of the protocol has good and well understood security reasons,

please update the drivers!!!

Thanx!

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

HP Does not support Lion anymore for Network Folder.  They refuse to update the drivers and would prefer you buy a new printer.  You will not be able to get this to work.

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

Ok, can you please provide your source! It makes me smile a little bit, I remember Palm to stop supporting a new Version of Mac OS X. After that I bought an IPhone and I'm still Spending a lot of money on the convenience as well as the pleasure. Does anybody remember that name Palm by the way. In the case of HP I would say things might be different. But I' m aware of even leaving apple and their services as well. Stay independent, use stronger standards (than SMB). If this is true I advise you not to bye a new printer by HP. think about it first. Cheers.
