Photosmart 5520 won't print wirelessly

I just bought a Photosmart 5520 and I can't get it to print wirelessly. My computer Mac OSX 10.8 is picking it up and the printer is recongising the IP address of my computer but when I print the job goes into the the printer icon in my dock and just says 'Ready to Print' and nothing happens. I checked the IP address on the printer to my router and it is out one number at the end.. 9 instead of 8. Would that be the issue? How do I fix this?

Re: Photosmart 5520 won't print wirelessly

1. Go into “System Preferences” and then select either  “Print & Scan” or "Print & Fax".
2. Right click (or control + click) on the rectangle listing your printers and then select “Reset Printing System”.

After you have reset the printing system, let's make sure you have the most recent HP driver package installed.

When you are adding the printer back, click the name of your printer and then click "Use:” box.  Make sure that says the name of your printer and not AirPrint. If you are using the printer wirelessly, make sure that the printer "Kind:" is set to Bonjour or Bonjour Multifunction. Click "Add" down in the bottom right hand corner.

Best of luck,
Kyle

Re: Photosmart 5520 won't print wirelessly

Delete the printer in Control Panel > Devices & Printers.

Now, re-add it in this manner:

1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing. Get its IP from a Network Test printed from the front panel of the printer.
2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Devices & Printers.
3. Click the Add a printer
4. Select Local printer
5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
12. Click Finish.

Re: Photosmart 5520 won't print wirelessly

I had a similar problem with my printer which is a 5520 series. The printer would nit connect to wireless network it didnt even show the ssid even though it would show the ssid of neighbours. Than if sometime it conncects then it would not print properly or scan properly. It would print half a page only sometime. My solution was i just mived the router tk a different location. Previously the router was placed just side to the printer but after moving some meters away all my problems vanished.

Re: Photosmart 5520 won't print wirelessly

What version of OS X?  What router?  Is the printer connected to your wifi network?

Try this: Reset the printing system:

- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
