Photosmart 8750

Hello,

I have the Photosmart 8750 and I am in the military. I bought the printer at the base Exchange. When the printer needed more ink the base did not have any for my printer. I am stationed in Germany so the Exchange runs out of stuff pretty fast. I went down town and found a shop that sells HP products and the rep at the store figured out what my printer needed. I bought the cartridges and took them home and installed them and they worked just like the cartridges that came with the printer. Later in the year I needed cartridges again this time the base had them. I bought them and took them home and installed them but now the printer says they are not valid cartridges. An in store HP rep(Exchange) informed me that the reason was is I used cartridges that I got from a German store. How do I fix this problem so I am able to use the cartridges I got from the Base Exchange. I have been deployed or I would have done this 9 months ago. Or am I stuck with a $450.00 brick. Anyone who has been stationed overseas knows how hard at times it can be when you need something and you are forced to go on the local economy to find it.

Thanks

Re: Photosmart 8750

The supplies for this printer are "regionalized", with different cartrdige numbers in different parts of the world.  You can contact HP support, they can "reset" the printer to allow the European cartrdiges (but you will lose the US cartrdige capability).  After your return to the US you could have the printer reset back.  There are a limited number of resets that can be aplied to the printer.

You will need to call and have access to your print and computer while you are on the phone as there are some print tests and things you will need to type into the computer.  I beleive the reset procedure is only available for Windows operating systems - if you have a Mac you may need to borrow a PC for this procedure.

Re: Photosmart 8750

You can perform a reset through a Mac system as well.   Tech Support can walk you through it.

Re: Photosmart 8750

Thanks for the update about the Mac support.  This was not the case a few years ago when I was involved with the regionalization issues.

Re: Photosmart 8750

Got onto chat, it took about and hour to regionalize but we got it done. The printer accepts the right cartridges now.:smileyvery-happy:
