hi. i'm facing the same problem, but i'm using iMac. i didn't really understand what u say "hold the ctrl, opt and apple keys and click on uninstall"  can u plz repeat it again briefly.  thx in advance..

hi, ive had the same problem as well, and ive managed to uninstall everything properly but cant scan from the printer itself, which is fine, but where are the controls on the mac itself to be able to scan from it so that i can still use it properly and to its fullest? thanks, ryan

My printer/scanner was great until I had to replace my video card. Now I get an error message saying unable to scan or copy. The print command works fine. I am running Windows 7. Can you PLEASE help???? The printer is relatively new and I loved it before this happened... Thank you in advance.

Tried your advice to make scanner work again  on my iMac desktop I bought with this   printer/scanner around 4 or so years ago with the iMac at an Apple Store.  Your advice didn't work.  I uninstalled, reinstalled, got update, and I get this same  "An unknown error occured.   

I have Mac OS X Version 10.6.8

Hi, I'm having the same problem but the solution is not working for me.

I scrubbed the software and when I try to add the printer from Print & Fax, I get a message that "Software Update can’t check for updates because of a network problem." It say that my computer is not connected to the internet, but the diagnostic check confirms that everything is fine.

I have a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.6.4

The printer was working fine, and I think it would copy fine as well (it's been a while since I checked that), but the scanning feature stopped working about 6 months ago and I'm not sure why. Now that the software is scrubbed I can't even print.

Please help. Thank you.

That's a pretty strange error message. Are you able to navigate to any websites? Either way, I would recommend rebooting your computer and trying to run the Apple Software Updates again.
