Hi all,
I need some advice.
I just got a new printer as a gift, a Photosmart C8180 all in one. I've printed only approximately 50 pages on it. Now it always comes up with a carriage jam error. (At first it was paper jam errors, but that went away to be replaced by the carriage jam error.)
I've tried everything I can think of: downloaded and reinstalled the latest software/drivers, un-installed and re-installed the printer via the print & fax system prefs, took out and re-inserted the ink cartridges, turned it off and unplugged it for a few minutes, and even plugged it in directly into its own socket, not a power strip.
When I turn it on, I can print the test page from the computer. Sometimes I can get a one- or two-page file printed from the computer and then it gives me The Message.
(Don't know if this is relevant: Whenever I unplug it, even if I turn it off first using the power button, it always gives me the message about correctly turning off the printer. And, when I ask it to give me supply levels, they always show as full, even though these are the smallest ink cartridges I've ever seen in my life and the test page doesn't print either of the magenta boxes which leads me to believe they need to be replaced.)
The computer is a MacBook Pro 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running OS 10.5.8. It's connected to the printer via Bonjour.
Thanks--d
