Hi there all. I am trying to figure out how to prevent my computer from losing connection to the D110 all-in-one. It will work fine for like three minutes and then it will say that the device is unavailable and needs to reconnect. No matter how many times I try to reconnect, it refuses to do so. The printer is still able to access the net, so it's connectivity to the router is not the problem as far as I can see. It has to be the way in which my mac and the printer are communicating.
I am using a linksys router and my mac runs Snow Leopard. I have tried reinstalling the printers and software a dozen times. It's not working. Restarted everything I could think of. When the printer is restarted, it is able to print for another three minutes before it loses connection again.
I found a temporary fix by manually entering the IP address, but I don't know how to still be able to use the all-in-one features that way. What's the point of having an all-in-one if it won't work as it is supposed to?
Any ideas or similar situations that will help me to fix this problem is much appreciated!

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). For your router, choose 192.168.1.200
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Yes, the scanner should work as well. Use HPScan in the Applications > Hewlett-Packard folder.

I had the same problem - this appears to have fixed it for me too. Many thanks!

OK, I take it all back. I have set a manual IP and it still has disappeared after a few minutes. Man this is frustrating!
I'm running the latest Mac drivers for HP printers, when I delete it and re add it all works fine - prints, scans, etc... even from other devices on network (macbook, iphone) then a few mins later it can't be found!
Any more ideas??

OK, let's reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

I'm having a similar (same?) problem. I tried the static address, that seemed to help and i was printing and scanning fine, but when I got up this morning it won't print again. The printer showed as offline on my iMac (10.6.0) although I could reach the webpage via a browser on the static IP. I tried to connect via the HP Utility, and it would not connect. My wirelss modem (Quest Xyxel PK5000Z) shows it as online in the device status page. The printer did not wake automatically, so I powered it on, and that did no good.
In sleep mode the front panel is off, but the blue wiresless button light is lit. I tried hitting the power button off, and the blue wireless let went off. I verified that the printer was not reachable via webpage or modem device status and then powered on. After a short while the printer showed up on the network, and started printing correctly.
So it seems like something happens when the printer is in sleep mode that makes it vanish for the iMac. Powering off and on seems to refresh the network connection so the Mac can find it.
Firmware TUL1FN1006BR, I can'f figure out how to update this.
Actually, as I was typing this the printer went into sleep mode again (front panel blank, blue wireless liight on) and I once again could not connect to it in the HP Print Utility (Version 4.8.5) on the Mac. Power on, front pannel comes active, power off, wait for shutdown, verify that the printer is not reachable via web, power back on, and presto, HP utility can connect.
Scanning (via HP Scan) seems to have simliar connection issues, and may be a better test than printing, since you don't waste paper and ink.
So my workaround is to power off, wait, power on and it works. But its hard to explain to my spouse that she's going to need to do this every time she wants to print. Any ideas on a more permanent fix?

A firmware update is a good idea. From the front of the printer: Setup > Preferences > Update Product

OK, had to add DNS entries on the printer to allow firmware updates, but that worked and now I have TUL1FN1044AR. Things seem much better. I tried to print, and all I had to do was power ON the printer, not power cycle the printer. I'm not sure if this is the result of firmware or DNS, but I suspect its firmware.
Question: Is this pronter supposed to wake automatically from power save mode?
