Print black and white only problem from Mac to HP6480 all-in-one printer

Does anyone know how to get the printer to print in black and white only?  As others have mentioned, the printer wants to use the color cartridge to print black and white.  When I explore every print option, drop down menu, question mark, there is no option to reset the printer to b/w printing only even though the summary section lists that option in one of the print windows.

Have you tried cmd-p from any app, Paper Type/Quality and choose Grayscale from that menu?

The cmd-p worked, it brought up a different dialog box. "Print" click the pull down arrow in "Presets" choose "Plain paper, fast draft, black and white" It works! I test printed a color page and it came out only black and white. Hope this helps.

Thank You. The post above put me on the right track to try the cmd-p keys. I figured the rest out from there. There is no grayscale to choose however, you choose black and white from Presets pulldown menu.

I only get a drop down with paper orientation cna no grayscale option.  I do get that option on my PC, but not on my MAc using Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Click the arrow next to the printer name to reveal more options.  Look in the lowest pull-down menu.
