Print jobs on c4480 won't join print queue

when i try to print something on my imac g5 running osx 10.4 the window comes up that shows the print jobs and the item i want to print does not join the queue. I have reinstalled the software and drivers and still nothing, I'm outta ideas.

Have you deleted and re-added the printer in the print queue? Let's try that:

- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Select the printer in question and click the minus sign at the bottom of the list
- Select the plus sign and re-add it.

If this does not work, do the same thing, only instead of the second step, right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.

ok i tried both ideas and i still got nothiesng but i have realized that the jobs are joining the completed list so like my mac thinks the printer printed them but the printer is either not receiving the message or is lazy.i checked all the connections and they're good and the printer still copies and prints that out so it has the ability.

OK, is the printer connected via USB?  Try this update.

ok i installed the firmware update and no change. i tried to contact hp today and their phone system hung up on me 4 times and i emailed fpr support and it said i should get an answer in about an hour and that was 7 hours ago! since you work ofr them even though you have been great maybe you can pass it along that a customer is extremely nonplussed by their support systems.

OK, is the printer hooked up directly to your Mac (not through a USB hub)?  Try a direct connection and/or a different USB cable.
