I do not print a lot but seem to use up toner fast. Is there a way to have the CP2025 Laser Jet print lighter.
I only print about 50 - 100 copies per month and yet I am running out of each colour about every 4-5 months.
Is there not a way to perhaps have it print at a lower quality so as to use less toner?

Unfortunately, there is only 1 "quality" setting on the CP2025. There is, however, the setting to print in greyscale or color, and printing in grayscale when possible can save your printing costs a lot.
Also, you say "copies" and in copy mode, even black areas are printed using all 4 colors, which uses a lot of toner. Printing in general uses less toner than copying. If you print all of your copies of a job it can save some toner.
200-500 copies is far too few for a cartridge. Either you are printing pages that are VERY heavy coverage, or something is really wrong with your printer. You should get about 10X that many pages (if they are average) on each cartridge.

Hi
Maybe, latest firmware could fix this issue:

One thought- I think you don't want to use less toner, you want to print more pages! There is a way to do that. You set the printer to continue at cartridge out. Depending on the exact use of the printer, there can be a lot more prints in the cartridge when "out" is declared. The definition of "out" is set to assure that there are never print defects, but if you watch it, most cartridges have a lot more pages in them before you notice a problem.
Print out a menu map and find this setting. It is not obvious, but it is there on all HP LaserJet printers.

Every CP2025 owner needs to know these settings:
* Print using black toner only:
Windows 7 / Devices & Printers / Right Click / Printing Preferences / Advanced / Print all Text as Black
Windows 7 / Devices & Printers / Right Click / Printing Preferences / Color / Print in Grayscale
* Print from black toner cartridge only when others are empty:
Front Panel / System Setup / Print Quality / Color Supply Out / Continue Black
Front Panel / System Setup / Print Quality / Replace Supplies / Override out
