Problem printing double sided copies on OfficeJet 7410 from my Mac using OS X 10.7

After installing the latest driver for my OfficeJet 7410, I can no longer print double sided copies from my Mac using OS X 10.7.

There is an option under "Layout" in the print dialogue box to select 2 sided copying, but it is always greyed out and unavailable when printing.

I had a preset for printing 2 sided that I am trying to use but no longer prints 2 sided.

What gives?

Steve

Re: Problem printing double sided copies on OfficeJet 7410 from my Mac using OS X 10.7

Hi Steve,

Please follow the steps below and let me know of any change:

1. Verify the duplex-printing accessory has been installed properly. To verify this open the System Preferences and go to Print & Scan. Open the print queue of your printer. Click on Printer Setup and from the tab menu choose Driver. Verify the box next to HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer) is checked.

2. On the File menu, select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click Show Details to see all available settings.

3. In the expanded Print window you will find next to Copies the checkbox for Two-Sided. Check the box.
NOTE: If the checkbox does not appear within the specific application print dialog, skip this step.

4. To select the binding type click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.

5. Select Layout from the drop-down menu.

6. Set the Two-Sided option as Long-Edge binding (Portrait), or Long-Edge binding (landscape).

You may save the settings for future use by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset...

Shlomi

Shlomi, Chag Sameach

You pointed me in all of the places I needed to look (#1 seems to hav been key.  Upgraded driver must have not automatically duplicated all of the settings of the driver it replaced?) and  gave me the confidence to fiddle until I acheived a breakthrough.  Which I did and just finally printed my first 2-sided copy.

The print dialogue box has many vaguaries and did not initially contain the options you predicted and the "Layout" page did not show, initially, any binding type options and the two sided option remained greyed out.

I'm actually not sure what it was that finally achieved the breakthrough that showed me the binding type option, but it may have had something to do with going through with all of the options and quitting system preferences which may have been needed to "save" and bring all of the changes into play.

In any case, thank you for pointing me into all of the system nooks and crannies that one normally rarely visits and forgets where they are and how to find them
