I had my Deskject 3050 working fine throug the USB cable for almost a year with my Macbook (os x). Today I decided to set up wireless printing. I started by updating my driver. Through that process, when I tried to set up the wireless printing I was told to connect to the USB cord - it already was connected. I followed the "go back" directions, reconnected the cord and am still recieving the same message. (I know the printer is connected. I printed a test page, and and see/access it system preferences.)
My second problem is that HP is not appearing in my applications folder.
Any suggestions?

As Hewlett Packard folder is not there in Applications. It seems that full feature software is not installed in Mac
Please perform following steps to resolve the issue.
Step 1 :
On Mac click Apple Icon >> System Preferences >> Print and Fax (or Print and Scan in case of Mac 10.7)
You will see your printer listed on left hand side in Print and Fax (or Print and Scan) . Remove that using following steps
. Press and hold "control" button on Mac keyboard, then click in the box on left hand where printers are listed.
. Click Reset Printing System
. Authenticate with your user name and password.
This will remove all printer entries from there. Do not add them again at present.
Step 2 :
Make sure printer is turned on and usb cable is connected to printer and Mac directly.
Then download the software from the weblink given below (Please note weblink is different for Mac 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7)
To check the correct OS of your Mac. Click on Apple Icon >> About this Mac >> You will Mac 10.5, 10.6 or 10.7 version there.
Then download the correct software for your Mac from following weblinks
For Mac 10.5 or 10.6
For Mac 10.7
Click on above link as per Operating system version of your Mac and click "download"
After download double click on downloaded(dmg) file, if you are using Safari, you will see this file in Downloads folder >> click "HP Installer" >> Select your printer >> select HP Recommended software
After installation of printer software, it will prompt you to "add" or "setup" your printer. Please do so.
It will prompt you to configure the wireless also and will prompt you to remove the usb cable at right time
Enjoy the Wireless Printing
Click "Kudos" if issue resolves
Regards
Harold

Connect the usb cable in any other usb port on Mac. Then power cycle the printer by following steps
1- Unplug power cord from back of printer when printer is turned on.
2- Wait for 30 seconds.
3- Plug the power cord it should turn on the printer automatically.
Usb should be detected by this. If you have another usb cable, you can try that as well

HI Harold.
The last bit of advice did not help- I still recieved the same message, USB cable is not connected. The cable works - I can print when it is connected, just can't set up wifi.
