Scanner is not working. Cartridge lights and Resume light are blinking. How can I fix?

I have an HP Deskjet F4180 All-in-One Printer.  My operating system is Mac OS v. 10.5.8.  How can I get the lights to stop blinking and the scanner working correctly?

Based on the Blikning light Documentation, Resume and cartridge light blink reffers to a stalled carriage.

Try following the document below in order to troubleshoot the issue:

Make sure to follow the part listed as "Issue: The Resume and Check Print Cartridge lights blink".
