Scanning Doesn't work from a HP 5510 to my I-Mac OX 10.6.3

I am using an I-Mac OX Version 10.6.3

I have installed the software and printing is fine. However when I try and scan from the PC I am advise to quit and re-open system preferences.

When I try and scan from the printer/scanner  to the PC via the 5510 I am advised that the printer software is not installed.

I have tried re-installing on numerous occasions, double-checking all setting and preferences to ensure they align when trying to scan to pdf and I get the same message each time.

Please help!

Try scanning using Image Capture in your Applications folder.  Choose your scanner on the left side, then click "Show Details" along the bottom to reveal many options for scanning.

Hi there, thank you for the response and help. It did work, but I had to then convert the jpeg to a pdf file and it is also bypassing all of the systems management software, so wi=hilst I am grateful for the temporary fix, I would prefere one that uses the convience of the software I have purschased - which will save me having to create two file each time and then deleting the resource heavy jpegs...

Your further help would be much appreciated.

Oh, if you clicked the "Show Details" button, along the right side you can use the pull-down next to "Format" to select PDF.  Once you do that, you will see a checkbox that allows you to "Combine into a single document"
